“Silenced: The Censorship Series“
They told us what to think, then burned the rest. This series is for the stories buried, the voices silenced, and the truths filtered out by fear, power, and control.
How much of what we see is real… how much are we meant to believe?
The topic of propaganda has been something I think about every time I open a news article or see headlines. I have been intrigued by this topic since my high school geography class when we started learning about censorship in the media. I knew I wanted to use my form of art as a way to stand up and speak out on this topic.
I handcrafted the backdrop from newspapers, Modge Podge, and a bed sheet. Then, I added moody lighting and a simplistic feel to the model's clothing.

"Algonquin's Paramedic Students"
During Semester 2 at Algonquin, I had the privilege to photograph students in the Paramedic program. This was a great learning opportunity to learn about what they do and how much work it truly is to become a paramedic. Thank you for letting me spend a day with you guys!

Meet Matthew Young, a first-year student in the Paramedic Program at Algonquin College. Matthew had been a lifeguard for the last 4 years and wanted more. He decided to go into this line of work because of the thrill and to expand his knowledge on how to save people in high-pressure situations. Matthew is a real hero in training, young and ambitious. I thank you for letting me follow you around for a day to document what the Paramedic students do on a day-to-day basis. He is a very cooperative and professional future first responder, I applaud you and all the work you do.

This is Brielyn Young, a lovely Paramedic student who was kind enough to let me take her picture. Brielyn is in the Paramedic program because she originally wanted to be a doctor, but she figured that for much less schooling, she could be a Paramedic and still save lives and help people the same way. As she was not supposed to be a part of my original photo shoot, she was an excellent, calm, cooperative and super-sweet model. I am so glad that I got the experience of capturing a woman Paramedic in training. You rock, girl!

Sebastien Lafrance is a first-year Paramedic student and a part-time hockey referee. He made this experience so fun with his sense of humour and knowledge. Sebastien was very informative answered all of my questions and demonstrated how to use an oxygen bag while Matthew was giving the test mannequin CPR.
